A Little About Us
This is a local chimney sweep outfit, not a franchise desk routing your call somewhere else. When you ring, you reach the people who will be doing the job.
You call or book online, and we give you an arrival window rather than a vague "sometime Tuesday." Before anyone touches the firebox, the tech walks the chimney with you, looks up the flue, and tells you what the job actually involves and what it will cost. If the scope changes once we see inside, a cap that's gone, a liner that's separated, you hear about it then, not on the invoice. What moves the number on a chimney sweep here is mostly access and condition: a single-story ranch with a clean roof pitch is quick, while a steep hillside roof in Simi Valley with a tall chase takes longer and sometimes a second person. A flue that hasn't been opened in eight years with a squirrel's nest packed into it is a different job than a gas insert that gets a camera check and a service. And we'll say so out loud if your chimney doesn't need sweeping yet.
Our service area straddles two air districts, which changes what customers are allowed to burn. Ventura County cities (Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Moorpark, Oak Park, Santa Paula, Fillmore) fall under Ventura County APCD in the South Central Coast basin, no mandatory residential no-burn-day program. LA County cities (Burbank, San Fernando, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Stevenson Ranch) are under South Coast AQMD Rule 445: Check Before You Burn mandatory curtailment Nov 1–Feb 28 on high-PM2.5 days, and no new permanently installed wood-burning devices in new dwellings, which is why post-2011 construction here is almost entirely gas. The practical burning season is short: November through March, with most households lighting 15 to 40 fires a season, many only on holidays and cold snaps. Low annual use means creosote accumulates slowly in gas-converted and occasional-use fireplaces, but the nine idle months are when the real damage happens. Birds, squirrels and raccoons nest in uncapped flues. Spark arrestor screens pack solid with leaves and oak litter. UV and 100F+ heat crack crown mortar and chase-top caulk, and then winter atmospheric rivers drive water straight through those cracks. California requires spark arrestor screening on wood-burning chimneys, and hillside parcels in the fire hazard zones are enforced on it. Annual chimney inspection is the honest recommendation here; a full sweep is needed less often than in cold climates, but caps, crowns and screens need eyes on them every year.
When the inspection turns up something real, we handle it ourselves rather than handing you a referral list. Cracked crowns, failed chase tops, spalled brick and separated liners get quoted as chimney repair work with the scope spelled out before we start. If you're on a gas insert or a converted firebox and it won't light, cycles off, or smells wrong, that's gas fireplace repair, and we'd rather look at it in October than during the first cold snap in December.
Our service area
We cover Simi Valley and the surrounding towns. If you're in one of these areas and have a chimney sweep problem, call us. We usually get out the same day.
How we decide what to recommend
Why does one company say sweep, and the next say reline? Usually because they looked at different things. We start outside. Cap, crown, flashing, chase cover. In Simi Valley those fail long before the flue does. Nine idle months of UV and 100F-plus heat crack crown mortar and chase-top caulk. Then the atmospheric rivers arrive and find every gap.
So our default recommendation here is an annual inspection, not an annual sweep. Most households light 15 to 40 fires a season. Many only on holidays and cold snaps. Creosote builds slowly at that rate, especially in gas-converted fireplaces. Water and animals do the real damage. We pull leaves and oak litter out of spark arrestor screens constantly. Birds, squirrels, raccoons nest in uncapped flues all spring.
Repair wins when the structure is sound and the failure is a component. Replace wins when the liner is compromised or the firebox has moved.
Where you live changes the answer too. Ventura County APCD has no mandatory no-burn-day program. Burbank, Calabasas, Agoura Hills and Westlake Village sit under South Coast AQMD Rule 445, with Check Before You Burn curtailment November through February. We will say plainly when a repair does not pencil out.
